I glued a thin piece of white paper over top of the broken hinge. The strip of white paper sticks out against the dark brown of the book. The paper is flexible enough to match the contours of the book well.

The new spine is layers of thick white paper covered in a layer of thin paper. I've only a fragment of the original spine to work off of. The book is titled "Encyclopedia of Freemasonry" ALBERT G MACKEY33° AND CHARLES T McCLENACHAN 33° REVISED EDITION BY EDWARD L. HAWKINS 30° AND WILLIAM J. HUGHAN 32°

The new spine has been fitted and glued to the back of the book. The spine is white.

The new spine of the book has been painted dark brown matching the rest of book. I need to do some more color matching.

I had a really successful day fixing one of my books! I reattached the front board and then put a new spine on it. The book is The Encyclopedia of Freemasonry Volume 1
