I was a huge Firefly fan in the day (I even ran a fan site and edited a Jane Espenson book of short stories), so I'm excited by the news of a possible animated series. Would I prefer live action? YES! If this is well done though... I'll take it. #shiny #BringBackFirefly

Nathan Fillion revealed during Awesome Con that an animated series based on Firefly is currently in development. The project is expected to reunite much of the original cast to voice their characters, including Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk, Gina Torres, and Morena Baccarin. Concept art for the animated series was also reportedly shown during the announcement. The revival is said to be moving forward without the involvement of Joss Whedon. Other details including where the show will release, when it might premiere, and what the story will focus on have not been revealed yet as the project is still in early development.
