Landscape format. A photo taken on the north bank of the River Thames, below East Tilbury Marshes. On the left of the image, at the bottom, a bridge linking moored barges to the river bank: used for trucks to carry earth dug from London's Crossrail project, which is being spread over a now disused landfill site. To the right is a figure, in silhouette with his back to the camera, perhaps looking at a mobile phone. He is standing on rough ground. Again on the left, and also in silhouette, large mechanical structures, the coal excavators at Tilbury B power station. The power station and excavators have since been demolished and removed. The photo is shot into backlit mist and dust, leaving strange patterns in the air around the lone figure. The picture is monochrome greys. Shot on 13 September 2013 using a Nikon D7000 and Tamron 70.0-300.0 mm f/4.0-5.6 lens.
