Is it a controlled burn, or not? I wasn't sure so phoned it in thinking 'well if it is a controlled burn the Fire Brigade would have been informed beforehand, right? - Turns out it was but they hadn't, so after a quick check the three appliances returned to Coalgate & Hororata.

Then this evening I get a call from the Fire Control Centre thinking I was the contractor doing the burn, instead of the person reporting the fire. Turns out the controlled burn-off is no longer controlled & flames are reported to be over the hilltop. As well as the two Hororata and one Coalgate appliances returning to the scene, Darfield, Darfield South, and Kirwee appliances are now in attendance - Big shout-out to the volunteer firefighters.

So as I was just leaving Glenroy Lodge this afternoon I saw this large fire in a field full of slash (remnants from harvesting the forest that was on the hillside)...
