Here's a quite large pastel drawing done sitting on the river bank at Byron's Pool, Trumpington Cambridge. Byron is said to have swum here. Perhaps his anarchic spirit was at work.

A large plein air pastel from a few years ago, done from the banks of the river at Byron's Pool, Trumpington (a local nature reserve).This is in soft pastel as opposed to oil pastel. I think I went a little wild with this one.

Upstream of Byron's Pool wear, the water visibility improves a bit, including where the Bourn Brook joins the River Cam and where the Mill Race separates off. Lots of macrophytes including some beautiful Arrowhead in flower. #Chalkstreams #ByronsPool #Cambridge #RiverCam

Besides the Cormorant, there were the usual river waterbirds, all well habituated to human presence in the busy Byron's Pool Local Nature Reserve: Moorhens - some with tiny young, Mallard, Mute Swan.
