What’s the stack? Chatto significantly differs from most chat applications in its architecture and technology choices: First and foremost, Chatto exists as a single binary compiled from a Go codebase. Both real-time delivery as well as data persistence (anything from user records to chat events and even uploaded assets) are handled by NATS and its JetStream extension. Out of the box, Chatto embeds a NATS server to get you started quickly, but you can also connect to an external NATS server or cluster. (This is heavily recommended as soon as you want to scale horizontally, and/or require High Availability.) The web UI is built with Svelte and served directly from the Chatto binary, so no separate frontend build step is required.

- Emoji reactions are now fully featured (you can add any emoji as a reaction, there's a searchable picker, etc.)

Just an incredible weekend of progress for #Chatto, but sadly I didn't manage to hit my goal of making the test instance public. The RBAC system ended up being much more work than expected, and I need to straighten some things out before I can let you crazies on.

The tail end of Chatto's end-to-end test suite output. 358 passed, running in just over 1 minute.
This continues to blow my mind. Every single one of these is running against its own 100% isolated #Chatto instance. This is only possibly because Chatto is compact, self-contained, and spins up almost instantly.

🎊 CHATTO v0.0.39!!! 🎊 Holy crap, another release! The most requested feature has landed: the La Cucaracha notification sound is in. ENJOY. The Coin Collect sound has been carefully tuned to be more plumber compatible. You can now start a DM conversation simply by clicking on a user's name in the room members list. Messages that @mention you are now highlighted. Various tweaks, fixes and performance improvements, as usual.

When your entire app is just a single compact Go executable that needs zero external dependencies, not even a database, you can just parallelize the crap out of your Playwright end-to-end tests and run the entire suite in 11 seconds. ✨
