The last movie I saw was Horseshoe, an excellent and tense account of four siblings trying to divvy their dad’s estate after decades of estrangement. Their dad’s ghost doesn’t help, what with his snide barbs. Brilliantly written and perfectly acted, it was a great coda to a day of #CIFF

After a legstretch, I enjoyed the Irish Language movie Boite, one of @solasnuadc.bsky.social’s #CIFF offerings. Boite provides snow burn murder mystery in the Gaeltacht of Galway (a region I briefly visited and yearn to return to someday). The urban vs rural conflict that has long plagued Ireland.

Next up at @solasnuadc.bsky.social’s #CIFF, “Donal Lunny: In Time”showed us the creative genius of a musician whom you really liked a lot better when you didn’t know his romantic history. The music he made with Planxty and Bothy Music won’t make up for that, but he has made some amazing art.
