A Blizzard Warning is in effect for the North Shore and Minnesota side of the Twin Ports regions of the Northland through the morning hours of Friday, March 13, 2026. A Winter Storm Warning covers the Rainy River Basin, Arrowhead, South Shore, and Upper Peninsula regions for this same time period. A Winter Weather Advisory covers the Iron Range and interior regions of northwest Wisconsin.
Snowfall totals from this clipper system passing through the region Thursday afternoon through Friday morning will see over 12 inches in parts of the North Shore, 6 to 12 inches in the South Shore and Upper Peninsula regions, 5 to 10 inches in the Rainy River Basin, Iron Range, and Twin Ports regions, 3 to 6 inches in interior northwest Wisconsin, and 1 to 3 inches for the I-35 Corridor region.
A Wind Advisory is in effect for southern Aitkin, Burnett, and Pine counties from midnight to 10 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2026. Wind gusts in this portion of the I-35 Corridor region could be higher than 50 mph, with sustained speeds of 15 to 30 mph likely.
Overall, the entire Northland will see strong winds as the clipper system passes through with sustained speed of 15 to 30 mph. Wind gusts will be over 40 mph at times, especially along the North Shore as they will coming right off Lake Superior.
