Chicago style no longer requires place of publication in citations. Authors: If you put these in your citations, a copyeditor needs to take them out manually, so if you read this, please be a champ and skip them the first time around.

I just discovered another departure from the 17th edition #ChicagoManualOfStyle. Scholastic Grades! I'm glad this didn't come up for me after the 18th came out. Here's an example:

#Copyeditors: Just a general suggestion to check in with your publisher clients about #CMOS18! Some publishers are taking longer to move over to 18; some aren't adopting all of the changes. Decisions on the publisher's end take time; don't make assumptions and move to 18 w/o checking.

Translators of books! The Chicago Manual of Style now encourages publishers of translated books to include the name of the translator on the front cover in addition to the title page. Please inform your editors and publishers and cite section 1.79 in #CMOS18.
