We most definitely are amidst a COVID surge in ON now. Evidence in schools & wastewater is clear.
N95 or better, #CRbox, open windows/doors, avoid crowds, use iota-carrageenan nasal sprays.
Layers of protection must be maintained to avoid Covid infection.

I built this #CRbox using a @donatemask.bsky.social box fan for another teacher/classroom.
Another teacher saw me carrying it down the hall and asked me what it was, so I told her.
She said, "That's cool!"
Its so much more than that! It supports health & longevity (potential futures of many kids).

When it came time to change the filters of our full-sized #CRbox I decided to create a foamboard frame for Ikea Fornüftig filters instead. Filter replacement cost is MUCH cheaper in this design & it still works amazingly🙌🙌

Been a busy morning with final classroom tidying and #CRbox building.
Trying to help reduce close-contact spread of airborne pathogens, like COVID-19, between my students.
They are and always will be my friends. They, like most people in society, chose to listen to piss-poor government guidance re: masking and chose to believe the pandemic was over.
I tried to help them with guidance re: proper masking, avoiding busy indoor spaces, and #CRbox building...
We are careful to ensure we are using very low voltage #CRbox systems & uL certified plugs.
This more than satisfies and electrical safety requirements in Ontario.
Perhaps government should start governing by ensuring all public indoor spaces have cleaner air to prevent airborne pathogen spread.
School boards & gov'ts attempt to argue that #CRboxes in classrooms aren't safe.
Perhaps they should offer funding and support of in-class #CRbox construction activities to improve learning & make it even safer.
For the record, we've been using #CRboxes effectively for 3 years now without any probs.
Knowing boards were attempting to block teachers & students from using #CRboxes in schools, I decided to embed #CRbox construction into our math, language, and science curriculum in grade 6.
If #CRbox building is part of the learning, then it can't be removed from classrooms.
Its not cheap but completely necessary. Student health is tied directly to teacher health because we work closely 5 days a week in small classrooms.
Board red tape makes it VERY difficult to buy #CRbox materials, so I usually invest in them myself.
We all need cleaner air.
Around this time each year, I'm usually looking for sales on DPA equipment for my students. The kids love playing games, while exercising outside each day.
I also start buying #CRbox equipment too for cleaning the air in our classroom. I like to have it all running before students begin in Sept.

Oh it's front heavy... Also ran into a few hiccups during production as issues I didn't forsee popped up and I had to re-work to make it fit.

First student-designed & constructed desktop, PC-fan #CRbox. From design to prototype.
By March 1, 2024, our first student desktop #CRbox was operational in our classroom. Their job was to help reduce close-contact spread of airborne pathogens.
They definitely helped, and continue to help to this day!

By this point in 2024, I was tracking attendance too, and noticed a 25% (min) improvement in my class vs all other classrooms. #CRboxes and masking were helping my students avoid airborne pathogen spread.
