Most of what's needed to get done is background work, and I am a chronic over detailer so trying to simplify all the nature textures has been a challenge. Consistent steps forward are being made.
Hard at work...
Hoping to have some announcements to share soon, preproduction is going smoothly but still not without hiccups
Stay tuned everyone

More expression practice, with Indrimir this time. Definitely harder to work around the snout and prosthetic but it's also my favorite feature of his to draw. He's been a bit of a vessel for me to process my feelings about my own disability, and being able to come up with work around for him and write the habits that were born from the injury and resulting recovery has helped me process what could come up in my future.
He smiles so goofy and it's adorable

A digital sketch of a portrait in a frame decorated with wide-open unsettling snake eyes. The portrait's subject is an older man with bushy white hair in late-Victorian explorer's clothing who appears a bit too confident and cocky to be posing with no mischievous intent, with an eyebrow raised and the flash of a toothy smile visible underneath a thick mustache with the tips curled upward. He has a hunting rifle strapped to his back, and the edge of the stock is engraved with monster teeth. Next to the frame is a note about who this is: Colonel Lawrence Collingworth, who died in a hunting accident and left everything to his spouse Cameron.
A digital drawing of a building blueprint. It's the front-facing side of a creepy cowboy mansion: the windows and doors are all coffin-shaped, the stained glass above the door has a winged skull, and the weathervane decoration is a horned demon head. The house has 4 above-ground floors, with three primary house floors and one attic level for each part of the house. There's a wraparound porch at the front door that goes left from it, and a balcony on the second floor on that same side
A very droll and very dead man, and the big old house he left his spouse. The estate is appreciated by the spouse: the dead husband, not so much.

Another Plein Air painting! Took this one home to finish up, it was a LOT more complex than the last one, but another great challenge and I had a lot of fun.

Digital wallpaper illustration. A dark purple pattern repeats on a subdued lavender background. The repeating pattern consists of hearts with horns and bat-wings, skulls, and elegant art nouveau curves. The largest pattern has a heart with bat wings crowned with a horned heart: the largest heart holds a skull in it, and curls and hearts surround the skull. To either side of the large heart is a smaller heart filled with curves and crowned with a horned-and-winged heart uplifting a skull.
Slow-moving on art due to weather causing issues with my chronic conditions, but still moving nonetheless! Here's a splash page that's just wallpaper.

A digital sketchbook page. The subject is a fat, bat-faced individual with dark facial hair: there are four waist-up drawings and two smaller full-body drawings. One waist-up is in the upper half of the canvas: their hair is down, and they’re in a plush-lined robe with the sleeve not totally drawn in to show how fat moves on their arm. The three remaining waist-up drawings take up the lower half of the canvas. The left waist-up drawing has them in a short fur-lined coat, a long and tight-fitting dress, and a fedora askew on their head: their left hand is fanned out across their large chest, and their head is tilted away slightly as they make flirtatious eye contact with the viewer. The middle waist-up drawing has them in a tight slip dress, one hand pressed to their collar bone and their face showing offense: their eyes are wide open, their pupils are tiny, and their lips are tightened up like they’re holding back harsh words. The right waist-up drawing shows them from the back at a three-quarter view: they’re in a spaghetti-strap slip, and look over their left shoulder at the viewer while pouting with widened eyes and a puffed-up lip. The two full-body drawings are on the upper-right side of the page. One full-body is a body breakdown chart for future drawings. The other is the body in repose: it’s leaning on a windowsill, and there’s one one leg tucked under them to prop the body up on an ottoman and the other leg stuck out and bracing against the floor.
I don't know if I want to finish these or not, so I'm posting them here just in case I don't because I still want someone to see these. SHOULD I finish these?

A digital comic book cover. In the center of the cover, there's a fat bat-faced femme in a blue robe and matching slip nightgown: they're in visible distress pulling at their hair, and they're caught in a bright golden spotlight. On the left side of the cover, the arm of a butler in a plum-colored suit offers a box of tissues on a silver platter which also sits in a golden spotlight: above that, a portrait of the femme's deceased second husband hovers in a frame and glows with eerie blue light. Above the femme's head hangs a heart-shaped locket with "L.C." engraved on its back, framed by eerie blue light. On the right side of the cover, a large hairy meathook of a beat-up white hand tightly grips the best bouquet of roses its owner could afford and offers it to the femme while framed in a third golden spotlight: above the hand is a pendant with a leather tab embossed with multiple eye-shaped symbols. There are two large art deco title boxes on the cover: the one on the upper half of the cover has a skull and wings on its borders and reads "How to Get Over Your Second Ex-Husband", and the other is at the bottom and reads 'by Buddy-O Baker".

Good news is we got a cover! Haven't rendered something to such a degree in so long, so that's still one of my rustier skills, but I think it looks alright

A digital screenshot of an artwork in progress. This crop focuses on the bottom-right corner of the piece. There’s a fat bat-faced femme with thick dark hair in the center; they’re wearing a plush-lined robe and a satin slip, and is pulling on their hair with a face in clear duress. To their right, and just at level with their shoulders, is a large meaty hand tightly gripping a partly squished bouquet that is being offered to the bat: the floral arrangement itself is not inked yet.
Got a bit of inking done on that cover today! Only now as I post what I got done do I see the errors I’ve made. Ain’t that just the way!

A digital comic book cover sketch. In the center of the cover, there's a fat bat-faced femme in visible distress and pulling at their hair. Above their head hangs a heart-shaped locket with "L.C." engraved on its back. On the right side of the cover, a large meathook of a hand tightly grips the best bouquet its purchaser could afford and offers it to the femme: above that hand is a pendant with a tab engraved with the ancient symbol of a mysterious god. There are two theater title matinees on the cover: one is at the top and reads "How to Get Over Your Second Ex-Husband", and the other is at the bottom and reads "by Buddy-O Baker".
Despite the ongoing jackassery and horrors, I do have that comic cover ready for some further style testing and cleanup. Yippee!

An illustration of my character Edwin with a bowl of candy and a bad vampire costume with a title above it saying "Happy Halloween! And some updates for my webcomic Undertaken"
A series of illustrations of my character Edwin, a few containing his cat Filbert. The text reads "This post is going to be about what I'm working on with my OC Edwin, you've seen him before! (And will be seeing a lot more soon)
"So What is Undertaken? Undertaken is a webcomic I'm developing right now inspired by 80s horror/comedy films, once I'm fully finished with it I plan to print it into a graphic novel format! Undertaken is also about a funeral director named Edwin Yillings, who lives in a small Texas town that he hates. When he makes an unfortunate estate sale purchase and his cat Filbert gets possessed he's persuaded to start "making his own customers" to make enough money to move. Unfortunately (or fortunately) Edwin makes a terrible servant of darkness."
"Where are you with the comic now? As of posting this, I am done with the main outline and adding all the extra details and in-between stuff I want to make sure shows up in the narrative. My goal is to have the script done before I start finishing and digitally publishing pages because I don't trust myself to actually consistently write as I go along. I don't know the estimated page count yet but I'm hoping to keep the reading time under two hours, like a movie! A few things I genuinely didn't consider were how much extra stuff I'd need to do like ads, reference sheets, and issue covers so this has slowed me down a little and I'm trying to find a balance with everything."
A few days late but here's my combination Halloween and update post for the comic I'm working on. I've talked about it a lot with peers and mentioned it in my stories but I never actually cemented it with a post where people could see permanently, so here it is!

A cover thumbnail option. It shows a recklessly disassembled heart-shaped locket with the two halves of it skewed at opposing angles. The left picture shows a white-haired and bushy-mustached man with his mustache and haircut connected by thick muttonchops: he smiles a bit smugly and seems to be side-eyeing the photographer. The right picture shows a fat bat-faced femme in a high-cut sleeve dress and matching gloves, heavy rhinestone earrings and an almost obscenely large matching necklace, and dark lipstick. They look mortified, and they're hiding their face with one hand as they glance hastily off to the side. A set of pliers sit at the bottom and partially out of frame. At the top of the cover, there’s a large placard where the title text will go.
A cover thumbnail option. It shows a set of nearly identical ornate, heart-shaped frames. The left frame shows a white-haired and bushy-mustached man with his mustache and haircut connected by thick muttonchops: he smiles a bit smugly and seems to be side-eyeing the photographer. The left frame's name placard reads "Lawrence", and an additional placard engraved with "RIP" and having a skull and wings as its frame denote that this portrait's subject has since died. The right frame shows a fat bat-faced femme in a high-cut sleeve dress and matching gloves, heavy rhinestone earrings and an almost obscenely large matching necklace, and dark lipstick. Who's ready for some more comic cover options? I hope you are! These aren't being seriously considered, but I just wanted to post them anyway since I like how they came out.

A comic cover thumbnail. It shows a search bar with the largest recent search being “how to get over your second ex-husband”. Other searches include “vampire-friendly diners near me”, “can you flip off paparazzi”, “on-site appliance repair near me”, “a.c. ghouliard repair reviews”, “how to tell a guy you love him”, and “how to cope with feelings”.

A comic cover thumbnail. Centered on it is a fat bat-faced femme with their hands to their face: their expression shows distress. On the left side of the cover is the arm of a butler offering a box of tissues on a tray: on the right side of the cover, there’s a large meathook of a hand tightly gripping a bouquet of flowers its owner offers the central figure. At the top of the cover, there’s a large placard where the title text will go.
Cooking up cover options for this comic. We finally have a title: "How to Get Over Your Second Ex-Husband"

A digitally-drawn height comparison chart. There are three characters on the chart. On the left is a short, blue, ghostly man in a clean-cut tank top and striped boxers: he's the shortest, at 3 1/2 feet tall. In the middle is a sickly pale, fat, curly-haired, and bat-faced femme in a gray bra and shorts with their dark red hair down and unbrushed: he's about an average height at 5 foot 2. On the right is a tall, fat, hairy middle-aged white british man with heavy scarring, an eyepatch over his right eye, and a worn-down prosthetic leg: he's the tallest, at around 6 1/2 feet tall.
Key webcomic character height comparison chart time! (Only 3, though, since the rest is all spoilers.) Now I can start with more detailed page drafting! Yeah!
