El 1 de julio de 2009 cierra el servicio original de CompuServe (su correo siguió funcionando un par de años más). Fue un pionero en servicios en línea desde 1979 antes de la llegada de la web. AOL había adquirido CompuServe en 1998.

Social Media has really evolved. We had #BBS, #CompuServe, then came #FidoNet, #UseNet, #AOL and then #Forums. Some that thought merged Into a Thing called #Reddit, #Facebook all META stuff and Twitter. I know there are other social networks
