Oh this is nice!

Our developer took a short vacation, took notes in the #ComputerHistoryMuseum, then realized we didn't have an obvious feature: a notification badge with the number of remaining studies. Notification badges available in the upcoming 1.4.5 release (in review) 🔔
A small museum display with 2 brown boards with huge discreet electric elements soldered to them and only very few connecting pins on the edge of the board visible. Above one of the cards is a small text describing the z23: "Zuse Z23 circuit boards, ca. 1960s The transistorized Z23 was a compatible successor to the vacuum tube Z22. It was an even bigger success: 98 units were made. SAP Collection, Computer History Museum, 102668242, 102711701"
I got distracted yesterday, but to continue what I promised:
Everyone who knows me, knows that I am slightly obsessed with the Zuse #z23. So I was happy to see (small) parts of it at the #ComputerHistoryMuseum.
But the choice of cards is slightly confusing […]

Picture of a mustard colored cord beanbag as they were used at Xerox PARC
Since I will try to have a relaxed day, expect some sorted thoughts from the last week and in particular yesterday's museum visits.
I start with one of the most unusual exhibition pieces:
A Xerox Parc Beanbag Chair.

Taking a crash course in relaxation I went to an event at the nearby Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California. A crash test dummy was sitting in a relaxed mood on a sofa next to a test-crashed car. He can now chill after hard work. -- ƒ/4.0, 16 mm, 1/40, 1/160, 1/640 sec, ISO 1600, Sony A6400, SEL-P1650, HDR, CC BY-NC-SA 4.0, © 2024 Peter Thoeny, @Quality HDR Photography

A detailed painting in shades of brown, green, copper, and bronze showcasing a complex machine adorned with intricate gears and cogs. There is a large partially toothed gear central to the image with the words “full cycle”, “set odd”, and “half cycle” spaced at intervals around the circumference. There is a vertical mechanism with rows of numbers in the background.
Art Break: one of my favorite paintings I’ve ever done, of part of the Difference Engine at the #ComputerHistoryMuseum in Mountain View, CA. Thinned acrylic paint on rough watercolor paper. (I did my best on the alt text, this thing is hard to describe.)
Display at the Computer History Museum showing a long horizontal orange and white computer with an enlargement of the Neiman Marcus catalog page behind it.
Display of an enlarged image from a 1970s Neiman Marcus catalog page showing a woman in a white embroidered outfit in an orange and gold kitchen touching a giant orange and white streamlined looking computer.

The weirdest computer ever - the late 1969 kitchen computer in orange to match that lovely 1970s color palette. It’s huge!! And from a Newman Marcus Christmas Catalog #computerhistorymuseum
