Today, the EU Council of Ministers held a first formal & positive exchange on the #CultureCompass, presented by Cssr Glenn Micallef.
Beforehand, Europa Nostra & @eurheritagehub.bsky.social urged Ministers in a letter to back the Joint Political Declaration on the Compass.
🎭 City leaders back the new #CultureCompass for Europe - announced by the @ec.europa.eu.
Cities are ready to work with the EU to turn its ambitions into local reality.
🇪🇺 But to achieve this vision, the Compass must be backed by strong EU programmes & funding.

🇪🇺 We highlighted #heritage’s role in shaping a shared European identity & called for ➕ funding & stronger cross-sector collaboration 🤝
Culture brings people together.
And last week it brought some of them together at the @ec.europa.eu first consultation on the #CultureCompass, at which occasion Commissioner Micallef repeated ‘There is no culture without freedom, and no freedom without culture and creativity.’

The Cultural Deal for Europe policy conversation - held in February - was the first public discussion about the EU’s ‘Culture Compass’, on which a consultation takes place at the Commission tomorrow.
