I'm intentional with all my OCs' colors, but for #DEITIESProject in particular, I'm also referencing the meanings of each color in AE religion and artwork.

Set's main color is red for that reason (power, strength, anger, chaos, the desert), & I give the same consideration for the rest of the cast.

NEPHTHYS — Character Profile & Artwork The Goddess of Mourning, Nighttime, Rivers, and Service — The extended profile for Nephthys as she appears in Deities of Duat and DEITIES Project.

"A gentle funerary and river goddess, Nephthys strives to lend her aid to those in need. Her compassion and empathy can result in placing others before herself, and due to past events, she struggles to balance her divine loyalties with her heartfelt desire to make things right." Artwork of Nephthys in her full regalia and headdress, as her character appears in Deities of Duat / DEITIES Project. The reference reads as follows:

Lady Nephthys -- The Goddess of Mourning, Nighttime, Rivers, and Service.
Notable Epithets: "Lady of the Sacred House; Mistress of Jubilation; The Beautiful Maiden; She Who Protects with Her Own Soul."

The remaining alt text describes Nephthys's visual design, which is mirrored in her website profile in the thread:

Physically appears as an adult in her mid-thirties; Orange eyes; Burnt sienna / brunette hair, grown past shoulder-length and gathered in two short bundles; Wears a circlet-crown with a house-symbol ornament and red ribbons in the back; Favors red, orange, black, and gold regalia.

The "last but not least" sixth of the reintroductions, the gentle-natured Goddess of Service. The role Nephthys plays in DEITIES Project is understated -- in direct contrast with her chaotic husband -- but deeply vital to the story.

ISIS — Character Profile & Artwork The Goddess of Magic, Health, Marriage, and Motherhood — The extended profile for Isis as she appears in Deities of Duat and DEITIES Project.

"A powerful goddess, highly-skilled with various forms of magic. Isis’s noble and serious demeanor reflects her deep devotion to her family and their royal legacy; following past trials to reclaim the throne, she seldom hesitates to address any threats to their renewed peace." [ #DEITIESProject ]

Fifth of the reintroductions, the queen and mother of the crown prince. Safe to say Isis was Set's original opposition (and vice versa) -- both in her effort to avenge her husband's murder, and the culmination of divine sibling rivalry.

Fourth of the reintroductions, the undead king of the Egyptian underworld. I don't feature Osiris nearly as often as I'd like, but he does play a key part of the major cast. Also has the least amount of skin showing in the cast, too--

ANUBIS — Character Profile & Artwork The God of Mummification and Funerals, and Guardian of the Dead — The extended profile for Anubis as he appears in Deities of Duat and DEITIES Project.

"Despite his youth and reserved nature, Anubis is a well-respected funerary god who excels at performing his divine role. He rarely dwells on mixed feelings regarding the legacy of his family, and prefers to focus on his responsibilities and supporting those whom he holds dear." [ #DEITIESProject ]

Third from the reintroductions, the recognizable but reserved jackal god. Anubis is the deity I probably relate to most out of the cast, so I have a special soft spot for his character. That said, it can't be easy being the son of Set.

HORUS — Character Profile & Artwork The God of the Sky, Midday sun, Protection, and Royalty — The extended profile for Horus as he appears in Deities of Duat and DEITIES Project.

"While destined to become king in the aftermath of reclaiming his family’s throne, the sky god Horus remains young in both experience and heart. Aside from training in his role as the heir, the falcon prince enjoys any chance of getting to know his divine peers and kingdom." [ #DEITIESProject ]

Next up for reintroductions is the designated royal heir and falcon prince! Without the context of his mortal-enemy-uncle antagonizing him, Horus probably looks more fierce than usual here, but he's usually quite good-tempered.

SET — Character Profile & Artwork The God of Chaos, Deserts, Storms, Foreigners, and Violence — The extended profile for Set as he appears in Deities of Duat and DEITIES Project.

"Known for his mastery in combat and demon-slaying, Set’s reputation was damaged by his misdeeds against the pantheon — yet the notorious chaos god seems to revel in his infamy. Dismissing any past regrets, he displays his informal and crude attitude with friend and foe alike." [ #DEITIESProject ]

New year, new [re]introductions to the divine royal family. Starting with the red-haired God of Chaos, I'll feature each of the deities separate from the group shot, along with their titles, domains, and some of their historical epithets.

Artwork of the divine royal family of gods and goddesses from Ancient Egyptian mythology, as their characters appear in Deities of Duat / DEITIES Project. From left to right are Anubis, Nephthys, Set, Horus, Isis, and Osiris.

They're all wearing their full regalia with headdresses/crowns, and are displayed in a "group shot" arrangement where their poses are interacting with each other -- in particular, Set antagonizing Horus, and their family observing in their respective ways.

With a few more hours to spare, the DEITIES Royal Family Redux is complete!

This is both a redraw of an older piece, and something to mark the 10-year anniversary of the project's launch on tumblr!

For the #DEITIESProject cast: The color of a deity's eyes reflect the color of their soul ("ka") and their magic ("heka").

Stronger spells will make their eyes glow more vividly, & their animal forms tend to have colored sclera, too. Chaos, on the other hand, displays a red glow + black sclera look
