At #DLab, we wrestled with how leaders sustain resilience during crisis. Not with lectures, but with questions and stories.
In New Orleans, joy is cultural. It lives in the music and places like Dooky Chase.
In hard times, joy becomes deliberate. Almost defiant.
Dialogue has a rhythm. It ebbs and flows. It can be staccato or legato, bold or quiet. But it is intentional.
At #DLab, Gregg Stafford called New Orleans jazz a democracy. Everyone has a voice. Everyone listens.
Dialogue feels the same. Not controlled, but carried.
A few weeks ago I attended #DLab at Tulane. Not a traditional conference, but a space for curiosity and dialogue.
Four themes stayed with me:
1. Dialogue has a rhythm
2. Joy is a form of resistance
3. Community is something we create
4. Dialogue is the space between the space
