Daniel couldn't help but feel drawn to him-he had a natural magnetism that was hard to ignore, and seeing a crazy, bright eyed smile on his face intensified that exponentially. He wouldn't admit it, but he understood why Louis was so fucked-up over the guy. "I'm a famous rockstar now, so I can do whatever I want." Daniel nodded his head, his sense of good judgment having been drowned in the liquor and beer of his intoxicated victims. "Fuck it," he said. "It's been decades since I've been night swimming."

Fic excerpt: When they finally find Lestat, he’s in an honest-to-God drug den the likes of which Daniel hasn’t seen since the 80s. He’s slumped in a chair, staring up at the ceiling with his mouth wide open, absolutely zonked out of his gourd. There’s a dead body at his feet. “Fuck,” Daniel says the moment he walks in. “This place smells like death.” Lestat doesn’t respond at first, but after a second or two he tells the ceiling, “Everywhere smells like death when you’re a vampire. You get used to it. For the most part.” His voice is monotonous and dispassionate, and his words come out a lot slower than they usually do (cf. zonked out of his gourd). “Yeah, well, there’s still gradations and this places smells like capital D Death. And unwashed vampire ass.”
