I rewatched this film again last night....and it just hit so much harder the second time round. That particular scene with the baseball kid made me feel physically sick...it was almost unnecessarily violent in some parts. A good sequel non the less. #films #stephenking #doctorsleep

This movie actually has good bones. It could have been an excellent movie. Great sets, interesting ideas and characters, visceral motifs, decent writing and acting.
But the editing continues to be bad. Simple cutting room floor decisions. Pacing. Transitions. The order of scenes.

I wish they would've asked me on the editing of this movie. One small change in placement of the "second prologue" would've:
* fixed the opening pacing issue
* told a more emotionally believable backstory for D
* kept his identity a secret for a couple of minutes for a much bigger payoff

Watched @StephenKing #TheShining (3 part series) on @Tubi . Followed the book. Special effects for topiary, fire hose and ghosts were great. Liked it better than the original movie. Recently got interested in King novels. Already read #DoctorSleep and may watch the movie soon.

If anyone has not read the books already, I highly recommend reading The Shining, watching the Kubrick film, reading Doctor Sleep and then watching the Mike Flanagan film - one right after another. That experience elevated each story for me!

Watched #DoctorSleep today (loved it) and the whole time I was thinking 'this feels like a Mike Flanagan project' and I get to the end and the first title card is 'Written and Directed by Mike Flanagan.' and I don't know if I felt smart for figuring that out or dumb for not knowing that already.
