On the left, Japanese take on the blue eyed blonde haired friendship dolls. Much older ichimatsu in the middle, and boy play doll.
Back when I was really working on my research about these dolls, I came with some amusement that the Japanese had tried to replicate the mama sound in their own dolls. I have yet to see one work. The one in the blue dress came with that outfit. Full gofun body too. #dollsky #dollhistory

The one on the left was my very first one. While you don't often see the boy dolls, they're quite charming as part of a set. The girl here is hybrid plastic and gofun, the boy almost compete gofun. #dollsky #dollhistory

This girl is one of my dolls that breaches past and present. She was made by a doll maker Sekiguchi (sic) the company that makes Momoko petworks and monchichi. She's vinyl and stuffing so unlike the others can actually sit down! This was made to be played with. #dollsky #dollhistory

i actually can't find any information about these "friends together" dolls except on the ebay listings where i found them. lauren and sadako are pictured here, and there are listings for two others named kerry and leila as well. they appear to be handmade montessori-type dolls with pretty, detailed clothing and yarn hair! they remind me of the cloth-faced doll kits made by glorex, bigger versions of the kathe kruse dollhouse-sized dolls, or an earlier version of bamboletta dolls.
when searching for cloth body dolls on ebay, i stumbled across this fascinating doll and immediately clicked to learn more. she's a "feelings and emotions" doll from lakeshore learning. these are still available for sale through their website with this description: "Introduce the concept of feelings and emotions with our adorable soft-sewn dolls! Perfect for circle time or dramatic play, each cloth doll features a permanently stitched expression that helps children recognize the emotions of others—and learn to understand their own feelings.
