New LA County communication system aims at confiscating guns in restraining order cases A new digital communication system in L.A. County is designed to more quickly get guns out of the hands of people hit with domestic violence restraining orders.

Remember that almost everyone has an “ex” and many of those “exes” have guns as well as violent tendencies.

Eight ex parte orders were not converted into final orders.
Though data on criminal charges is incomplete, at least 31 respondents were charged with criminal offenses within 30 days of the issuance of the order. #Domesticviolence was the most commonly charged crime. #gunviolence #ERPO

Data on the first year of #ERPO in Michigan issued by the Administrative Office of the Courts. Out of 391 ERPO petitions, 287 orders were issued.

New Orleans attacker had suspected bomb materials at home, reserved truck weeks ago, officials say The attack along Bourbon Street killed 14 people, along with the driver, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, who officials said was inspired by the Islamic State militant group.

How is it that he posted violent messages on #Facebook before the attack and nothing was done to stop him? I thought #Meta had safety measures to address this.
