Two knee-high drystone walls forming a gateway atop a steep, grassy bank. Partly rotten wooden posts are fitted into a recess on either side. There is a modern wire fence beyond, blocking access into the fort interior.
The eastern entrance to #Eddisbury Hillfort, #Cheshire. It was partially recreated in about 2011, following excavation in 2010 (itself revisiting work in the 1930s). The real archaeology lies beneath. Note the modern gate posts either side, positioned above postholes.
