Dick Van Dyke (born December 13, 1925) is a celebrated American actor, comedian, singer, and dancer with a career spanning over seven decades. Known for his charming personality and versatility, Van Dyke gained fame in the 1960s with roles in The Dick Van Dyke Show (1961–1966) and musicals like Bye Bye Birdie (1963), Mary Poppins (1964), and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968). His work on The Dick Van Dyke Show earned him five Primetime Emmy Awards. Born in Missouri, Van Dyke grew up in Illinois and initially pursued a career in radio and comedy. He transitioned to television and Broadway, where he won a Tony Award for Bye Bye Birdie. His film career flourished alongside his television success. Throughout his life, Van Dyke has been recognized for his contributions to entertainment, receiving honors such as a Kennedy Center Honor, a Grammy, and a SAG Life Achievement Award.
