Within Shadow, A Friendship Blossoms Written by waltzforthemoon "Squall!" Firion cried. How many times had he stood and watched a friend perish? How many times had he been powerless to save them? "No..." Firion clenched his fists, resolve swelling in his heart. "Not this time." Firion sprinted across the flower field, Ultimecia's laughter deafened by his pounding heartbeat, and he leaped in front of Squall to face Ultimecia's attack head-on. "Firion?" Squall gasped. "What are you doing?" "I won't let you die!" As the black orb hit Firion, Ultimecia slashed her claws into him—but instead of rendering flesh, she shattered reality itself. The earth and sky spiraled, stretched, and melted away into nothingness. Firion's insides twisted, head spinning and pulsing until he landed facedown in a dark stone chamber. Large, flaming sconces rested along the walls carved with strange, but familiar, engravings. "Mysidia Tower?" Firion groaned. "Or is this death?"
