No hi ha cap tractament pels animals infectats. Si un animal d'una explotació és infectat, la norma és sacrificar i destruir tots els animals de la granja. A Alemanya no es detectava #VFA, aka #FMDV, dsd feia 37 anys, i el darrer brot a EU fou a Bulgària el 2011. No és una #zoonosi.
