Last time #FPTP worked for them (with a lot of tactical voting to #GetToriesOut) but that may not work next time.
I most certainly agree that #FPTP is what makes #Reform the serious threat to democracy that it is (or Farage is to be more accurate) but diversity of approaches is IMO the best way to chip away at the coalition that is now voting Farage. We need #proportionalRepresentation so we can be disunited.

#FPTP and #SafeSeat parachutes does nothing to keep founding principles safe, nor did "block voting" or "granny farming" care facilities. Wasn't ever necessarily "the best of us" but educationally that is what we're sold. Proper oversight with deadly teeth has never been encouraged by themselves. 🙂

But you're right, generally #PersonalityElection and particularly #FPTP only make sense in two-party systems.
it's still a mess in Scotland. combining #FPTP for constituency MP's and #greysuits for the rest. i'd argue it is the worst of compromises.
#AV at least means that you get the "least worst" candidate.

yup, #FPTP is a complete travesty democratically, and it should be dustbinned. however when this kind of thing happens:
"Labour Party winning two thirds of the seats in parliament, with only one third of the votes cast"
parties will be... reluctant to change the status quo.
It's possible that #YourParty under Jeremy #Corbyn and the #Greens under Zack #Polanski will collaborate.
It would be sensible under #FPTP.
people suggest "local PR", but the problem with that is that unless that "local" is pretty damned large, it breaks down into #FPTP again. and if they're "PDL" you might end up with nobody remotely local.
i like the Aussie models for House and Senate both in terms of voting and constitutional roles.
