Ive been busy studying 3d modelling for my new filament printer, and this is one of my newest creations. A predator proxy designed by me, printed in eight pieces, plus the extra long lascannon thats handcrafted from plasticard tubes. I think i will scale the middle hull a little slimmer, and add more details in the future. Also the treads are inset a little too deep, its hard to conceptualize how the piece will actually look in real life by just looking at the screen. And after that comes the limitations of the printer and settings you have dialed in that you have to also take into consideration. A millimeter might look huge when you zoom in in the software, but in real life it might be so small that it practically will not print out at all depending on the size of your nozzle, layer height, angle of the object etc. Slicing the file to optimal printable pieces is another time consuming puzzle that you have to think about preferably already in the modelling phase, how the pieces will print out with minimal risks of warping or breaking and need for support structures, and also looking as clean and sharp as they possibly can and knowing how to balance the end result aesthetics, durability, ease of printing and cutting corners in terms of time, also angling the pieces for concistent natural looks.
And this project taught me a lot about all of this.

Been really getting into 3D printing so far I've made an articulate whale shark, an articulate sausage dog, a lamp shade and hex armour arm bracer I have no idea what to print next.
