No more $45-$50 fee because you were 3 cents short on an auto-withdrawal you forgot about...and then another one because they tried to pull the funds again 2 days later.

Starting to trend in the right direction again!

It was 64% in 2019 - right before covid.  Just a guess...but I'm thinking the pandemic wiped out a lot of Emergency Funds and they haven't been built back up yet.  Just a guess though.

A "milestone" is any event of achievement that marks an important stage in your life.  Think...buying a house, or paying all debt, or retirement, etc.

BTW...I have "CFP" in my bio....just sayin'

So, as of January 1, 2026...if you were born in 1991 or earlier...and have never had a TFSA before...you can put $109,000 in that bad boy with no over contributions penalties.  You know, incase you happen to find $109,000 in the couch cushions or something...

I had a short chat about FHSAs at an event last night which sparked this post.

It's a pretty popular account - and for good reason!  If buying your first home is on your radar, one of these should probably be in your plan.

I agree with the 89% but I'm also genuinely surprised

When looking at those who had life insurance vs. those who didn't - those WITH felt more in control of their finances and more prepared for unexpected life events - makes sense as that IS the point of getting insurance!

Cost was the biggest reason the 65% weren't likely to get it.

That said, it can be WAY less expensive than people think.

"Not starting earlier," is always the number one financial regret.  I don't think I've ever seen a survey come back with a different answer.

The earlier you start, the better off you'll be.  I've never seen a case where that isn't true.

Top answer was "Dining Out" (38.6%), then "Vacations and Travel" (27.2%), and "Entertainment/Concerts/Events" (14.3%)

I'd think "Entertainment/Concerts/Events" would be higher.  I hear concerts can end up costing you a LOT of money...but maybe that's just Coldplay shows
