Getting fed up with this scam.
I picked up the cauliflower, looked good. Price was good.
Sign said product of Canada.

The wrapping on the cauliflower said product of USA.

It is the corporations who are in charge of food prices, they really don't care if people go hungry -they care about their share price and shareholders -the wealthy among us. Stop #greedflation #foodprices are out of control. #Loblaws #Metro #Zehrs #FoodBasics #NoFrills #Superstore #Sobey

Wondering when Canadian grocers are going to stop stocking American produce. No one is buying it!!!. The fruit flies buzz around a full display of over ripe tomatos. The cauliflower looks good but it's American so its not selling. The romaine lettuce from US is all brown. Just stop. #foodbasics

Is Quaker Oats Canadian? Do moose fish for salmon?

There's a big Canadian Maple leaf, so maybe it is Canadian.

But PepsiCo (the US based conglomerate) owns Quaker, so all the profits go south.

So it's not Canadian.

Why is #FoodBasics telling us it is?
Money, greed, and more money.

How much is PepsiCo paying Food Basics to lie to Canadians?

Companies pay to be in weekly flyers, they pay to be on shelves. Food retailers make lots of money this way.

But does #FoodBasics have to mislead Canadians? Are they that desperate for money?

Pepsi is 100% USA #BoycottUSA

Bullshit!

Lay's is an American company, 100% owned by PepsiCo.

What part of that sounds Canadian?

#FoodBasics we are not stupid, we see our Canadian symbol being used by you to undermine our country.

You greedy bastards, knock it off!

Lay's is not Canadian.

Disappointed with #FoodBasics

The cherries are from the USA, and we are not buying USA anything. Price isn't the issue, being loyal to Canada is.

What makes this hurt so much? Food Basics was doing a better job than other food retailers. Showing 🍁 in their flyers and in the stores.

B.C. grocer avoids selling U.S. produce for 117 days in what expert calls a 'real' boycott β€” Global News Sylvain Charlebois told Global News that what Urban Grocer is doing points to a broader movement against American products at the grocery store.

He flew in cauliflower from Holland.

β€˜we just took… a less margin, sell it at a regular price … to give the customer something they can buy until B.C. cauliflower was available.”

We can’t even get BC cherries here.

Do better #FoodBasics #Metro #YIG

Thank you #FoodBasics for finding a Canadian source for romaine lettuce, #Notaro from Quebec. I had skipped romaine the last several weeks as no USA alternatives. That was my last fruit/veggie item to switch. And on sale for $1.88 ($3.10 off), so full prices is $1 less than USA.

This is just a personal bugaboo, but I hate seeing seniors struggle with grocery reward cards. There are seniors who want the cards, but it is all digital now. A lot of seniors don't get QR codes. Companies need to stop making it so hard for the elderly! #DoBetter #FoodBasics #Metro

Just did our shop for the week and I must say over 90% of our goods are MADE/PRODUCED in Canada. And that’s pretty damn good if I do say so myself. Our American goods are: two Coke products, pringles, and pop tarts.

Shoutout to #Foodbasics for making it pretty easy to #ShopCanadian!

#FoodBasics does not have a viable customer compliant service page on their website, to avoid confrontation with the lowly customer.

Shoppers call out grocery chains for misleading β€˜Made in Canada’ labels amid trade tensions - NOW Toronto Homegrown products are getting a spotlight in grocery stores across Canada amid trade wars, but shoppers are noticing errors in labelling.

If you’ve followed me, you know I often call out πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ grocery chains for mislabeling πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έn products. This week, #FoodBasics in Ontario is labeling Coke and Pepsi as πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ian. Because when I think of Coke, the first thing that comes to mind is "What a great Canadian product!" β€οΈπŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

#FoodBasics was lousy with πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έn product, not moving, but to do my part used my Shop Canadian App and was a busy 🦫 turning the labels and flipping what would stand upside down. Btw the shady labeling was rampent. β€οΈπŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

When you see Coke or Pepsi labelled as πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ian, the first thing I think is "Ya, they are a strong historic examples of πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ian product".

Do wayyyy better #FoodBasics, you're outright fabricating now. β€οΈπŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

Canadians pay closer attention to food labels as mislabelling complaints rise As concerns over food labelling grow, more Canadians are scrutinizing packaging to verify whether products are genuinely made in the country.

Sneaky companies are so desperate to get their increasingly fuller warehouses to empty, many πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦n grocery chains are enabling, namely #FoodBasics owned by #MetroInc, and #NoFrills owned by #Loblaws. They show they don't care except, "Where's my Money!" β€οΈπŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

Sneakiness in πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦n stores is escalating, especially with misrepresented products. It’s disappointing to see processed or packaged goods falsely labeled as Canadian just to push sales. #FoodBasics, part of the #Metro group, has been especially notorious for this lately. β€οΈπŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

The motive, move the product. #FoodBasics in Ontario πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ sure seems to try, but their definition of "πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ian" is, well… flexible. A 🍁 slapped on mostly πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ goods, with profits heading south. #Loblaws, ever the patriot, just not for this country. Heinz, Ritz, and Kraft not πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦n at all. β€οΈπŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ian grocery chains are lying in flyers outright. This #FoodBasics ad (mainly in Ontario) misuses the 🍁 label. Kraft, Pepsi, Doritos & Frito-Lay are all πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έn. And that’s just one page, half their 🍁 labels are actually πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έn. "Processed/Produced in πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦" doesn't mean πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ian product; it’s πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έn owned.

A screenshot of the Food Basics flyer shows a spread β€œhelping you support Canadian” with the leaflet identifying sales for the week of February thirteenth to nineteenth. Sales include Cavendish fries for $4.88, Irresistible pizzas for $3.97, and a bunch of things where the prices are variable sizes, but I can’t read the sizes. Sorry!πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

In the Food Basics flyer for the week of February thirteenth to nineteenth, out of ten products on the spread, seven products have maple leafs placed beside the products. Some examples: It shows that the Schneider’s Red Hots wieners are Canadian and only $2.98, but sadly the boneless skinless chicken breasts are not Canadian despite being on sale for $4.58 per pound. I guess Sunday Supper will have to be the Canadian rainbow trout fillets at $9.88 each!

Oh my God! To go on the #BoycottAmerican / #BuyCanadian bandwagon, #FoodBasics has marked #Canadian #groceries on their weekly flyers!
