5/7 One of the earliest #GGA award recipients was Nobel Prize–winning physicist Charles Townes, whose invention of the maser paved the way for the laser—famously dismissed at the time as “a solution in search of a problem.” In fact, no one knew how the laser could be used.

Unlocking negotiations on the #GGA will require dialogue on indicators, removing remaining barriers and agreeing on a post-Belém pathway.

🔎However, the adoption of indicators must be accompanied by financial commitments that meet the demands of countries in the Global South.
