These hearings focus on Georgia Power's request to fill a 10,000MW need mostly with gas and with a mix of solar and storage.
There will be subsequent hearings where the PSC staff and others will be testifying/answering questions.

while it's been a while since I've sat at these #GaPSC hearings, it's not uncommon to see high school students and students from Emory and other universities speak during the public comment period ...
... that beings said these students are tearing into the commissioners today in ways I haven't seen

I will tie that back to one of the sticking points of today: environmental and consumer advocates are concerned about the amount of gas-fired power plants that Georgia Power wants to build, as fossil fuels directly contribute to climate change ... which has led to extreme weather like Helene

The #GaPSC approved a three-year freeze of basic electricity rates ... that action does not include items such as fuel and storm cost recovery.
