False-color X-ray image of Centaurus A (NGC 5128), an active galaxy showcasing a 30,000 light-year-long jet emanating from a suspected supermassive black hole at its center. The image also reveals numerous individual X-ray sources and diffuse X-ray glow, indicating high-energy activity within the galaxy. Taken by the Chandra X-ray Observatory.

A telescopic view of the giant elliptical galaxy M87 (NGC 4486), the dominant galaxy in the Virgo Cluster. M87, over 120,000 light-years across, is larger than our Milky Way and contains a supermassive black hole, producing a high-energy jet visible near the one o'clock position. Other galaxies, including NGC 4478 and NGC 4476, are also visible in this deep-space image.
