An abstract, colorful marker interpretation of a fish with a very long nose with many sharp teeth. The illustration is heavily yellow with a rainbow effect around most to the roughly painted lines. It's bright and the essence of an alligator gar (long nosed fish) is distilled in frenetic warm color choices. Jagged lines mimic the gar's sharp teeth and a repeated eyeball pattern draws attention to the fish's face.
Here's my #GARtwork for #GarWeek 2025. I call this markers on paper composition “Under the Surface.” It’s inspired by the alligator gar’s magical smile + the power of #scicomm.
