Two social media posts, screenshot and merged. The 1st from salt_baer says: Hegseth called General Brown unqualified solely because he's Black. Then Trump fired him... and replaced him with a white guy so indisputably unqualified that he "lacks the legally required prerequisites for the position" and requires a Presidential WAIVER from Trump just to take the job. This is what "merit" means to them. The second post is from Covie @Covie_93: It is ironic because trump firing a Black 4-star general as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff only to name a less qualified white man to the same job is the reason why DEI policies exist in the first place.

I'm here early on Black History Month Day 22 with someone who, if you are pro-military, you should be really upset about: Charles Q. Brown. General Charles Q. Brown, Jr. was the 21st Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the nation’s highest-ranking military officer, and the principal military advisor to the President, Secretary of Defense, and National Security Council. Prior to becoming Chairman on October 1, 2023, General Brown served as the 22nd Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force. General Brown earned his commission in 1984 as a distinguished graduate of the Air Force ROTC program at Texas Tech University. He has served in a variety of positions at the squadron and wing levels, including an assignment to the U.S. Air Force Weapons School as an F-16 Fighting Falcon Instructor. His notable staff tours include Aide-de-Camp to the Chief of Staff of the Air Force and Director of the Secretary of the Air Force and Chief of Staff Executive Action Group. His joint assignments include three assignments to U.S. Central Command as Air Operations Officer, Current Operations Division; Deputy Director, Operations Directorate; and Deputy Commander. General Brown has commanded a fighter squadron, the U.S. Air Force Weapons School, two fighter wings, and twice served as a Combined/Joint Air Component Commander with command tours at U.S. Air Forces Central Command and Pacific Air Forces.
General Brown is a command pilot with more than 3,100 flight hours primarily in the F-16, including 130 combat hours, and has flown 20 additional fixed and rotary-wing aircraft. Throughout his career, he deployed or directly supported Operation SOUTHERN WATCH, Operation NORTHERN WATCH, Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, Operation ODYSSEY DAWN, Operation UNIFIED PROTECTOR, and Operation INHERENT RESOLVE. In addition to his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Texas Tech University, General Brown has a master’s degree in aeronautical science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Fighter Weapons School, a distinguished graduate from Air Command and Staff College, a graduate of the Air War College, and served as a National Defense Fellow at the Institute for Defense Analyses. General Brown was fired this month by Donald J. Trump after someone in Trump's administration suggested he only got his position because he was Black. The above information about him comes directly from the official Department of Defense website, so there's no conceivable GOOD reason this man was fired. Although we're taught to think about Black history as a thing that *was,* it is a thing that *is.* We are taught to "other" Black history as though it is something separate from plain old history - it is not. The legacy and subsequent unjust firing of General Brown shows that. The purging of qualified career civil servants is something that happened in then not-quite-Nazi Germany. The saying we know now as "history is doomed to repeat itself" was, in 1948, Winston Churchill's "those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it." That was only 76 years ago. General Brown was fired this month.
#BlackHistoryMonth day 22. I'm tired today. Yesterday I got told we were being offered a garden of statues and today I find out career #civilservant #GeneralBrown was called a "DEI hire" and fired.
#BHM is really every month, but this month, this YEAR, the history is heavy.
