Effects of taxonomic group (angiosperm vs. gymnosperm), life form (herbaceous vs. woody), leaf type (broad leaf vs. needle), mycorrhizal association (arbuscular mycorrhiza [AM] vs. ectomycorrhiza [ECM]) on C quality of branch litter. Number of observations is shown in parentheses, and asterisk and lowercase letters indicate significant effects. ns = not significant; *P < 0.05, **P < 0.01, ***P < 0.001.
