Day 17: favorite actor of 2025 #EYDC2025
Got to be #LiXian!
I liked -but didnt love- him in #GoGoSquid and I definitely didn’t think too much of his acting
Then BAM he hits me with his character in #FlourishedPeony and crafts one of my favorite characters of the year and fave MLs of all-time
Actually after all the warring of LOTFG #GoGoSquid is quite fun. I only have three eps to go on my rewatch.
Still watching #LegendoftheFemaleGeneral. It keeps you interested but it’s a slow slow burn. I’ve given up rewatching #GoGoSquid. The relationship between the leads is too eccentric. I like them both in other things though.
I’m up to about ep33 of #GoGoSquid and I’m looking towards #AmidstASnowstormofLove next.
#YangZi the FL was so much better in #LostYouForever 1 & 2. When she wasn’t playing a 21 year old. Her hair’s a choice in #GoGoSquid too. Her fashion’s so on point but her hair style is not doing anything for her. I know I know! Shallow as! Meh.
It does get better and I think I understand the romance dynamics better this time #GoGoSquid #CDrama #Rewatch I am ffing through a LOT of the flashbacks though. I didn’t realise how much there was.
I started a #GoGoSquid #Cdrama rewatch. I’m fast forwarding more than I thought I would. It’s a bit cringe in the beginning.
I’m nearly finished my rewatch of #LoveMeLoveMyVoice and it’s been soo good! I think I liked it better the second time. I’ve watched more good #Cdramas since I first watched it and I get some of the in jokes and references to the leads other dramas, now. I’m thinking #GoGoSquid rewatch next.
One thing I liked about #cDrama #GoGoSquid is that the FL was doing her SECOND Ph.D and the ML openly admitted she was his intellectual superior. It is till date the only #CDrama I've seen with an FL like that. To be fair, the only #kDrama I've seen with a genius FL was #DaeJangGeum
Parts of #GoGoSquid are a bit slow in places, & when I watched it I fast-forwarded through a lot of the flashbacks (because I wasn’t deeply interested in the history of the team)
But the two leads are such fun together, & show character growth - so overall I still rate it 👍

Yang Zi’s character isn’t a gamer like the ML, but she is a very smart software programmer
If you want an FL who is also a gamer then #YouAreMyGlory & #EveryoneLovesMe come closer to that idea (I think #GoGoSquid2 may have a FL gamer too, I haven’t seen it)
#GoGoSquid & #YouAreMyGlory are the other obvious ones I’ve seen, & they clearly have romance in them! (I haven’t watched #CrossFire or #GankYourHeart)
I don’t remember romance in #TheKing’sAvatar - maybe for one or two of the side characters, but very little for the mains
For esports dramas with romance you need to watch #FallingintoYourSmile, #YouAreMyGlory, #GoGoSquid or #LoveO2O
Indeed! On a *slightly* more serious note, one of the things I loved about #cDrama #GoGoSquid (despite its endless patriotic propaganda) was the fact the FEMALE lead was doing her second Ph.D. The ML openly acknowledged her as his intellectual superior, rarer than snow in the Sahara
Yes. I've been biased against the CTV "CCPPL" dramas because propaganda, ugh. But #ThisThrivingLand showed how it can done well, so I'll be more open-minded from now on. There was much more overt tub-thumping "CHINA RULES" in dramas like #GoGoSquid and others

Have you seen #GoGoSquid ? The only #cDrama (or #kDrama or #jDrama ) I've seen where the ML acknowledged the FL (a double PhD ) as his intellectual superior. A whole bunch of FFing through REALLY heavy duty CCP propaganda, but a genuine FEMALE genius lead made it worthwhile for me
I’ve been on a #GankYourHeart extended watch since yesterday. #Cdrama I’m really enjoying it. I think it’s influenced both #GoGoSquid and #FallingIntoYourSmile because the mise en scene is so similar. I rewatched FIYS last year during my Christmas rewatch period and I feel like doing that again!

#FlourishedPeony is 10/10. They spent all of season 1 setting up the slow and steady creation of a villain for season 2?! The casting of a couple from a beloved show everyone watched? ( #GoGoSquid) Starts the contract marriage storyline 2/3 of the way through?! Instant classic #cdrama.
The vid you linked to makes me want to rewatch. #GoGoSquid was such fun. (I won’t, as I’m already watching plenty at the moment. But I did feel the urge.)
He really acts well though - his sunny character in #MeetYourself is so totally different to the one he plays in #GoGoSquid 🙂
Day 17: For #GrumpySunshine, I pick #GoGoSquid. #HangShangYan was definitely grumpy & #TongNian was the ray of besotted sunshine he needed to pull him out of his no-joy lifestyle. She cheered his heart!

#GoGoSquid is really fun & they are e-sports competitors, and #GoGoSquid2AppledogsTime is robotics competitors & sweet puppy love, but some might find it sleepy. In #EveryoneLovesMe, they play seriously & work for a video game company designing it; I enjoyed it, though it isn't groundbreaking.
