To their credit, Shepherd, Zharkov & Zharkova (2014) made very definite predictions about the evolution of sunspots toward a much-hyped #GrandSolarMinimum.
Turns out, the predictions are hopelessly wrong.
There’s a lot more to the non-linear solar dynamo than a couple of principal components.

Now prior to the one in the #GrandSolarMinimum, you had a big eruption from #MountSamalas in 1257 .. ish
They knew there was a big eruption but was not found for years until a French Scientist searched and eventually found it
