The sleeve was designed by Peter Saville & Brett Wickens. It cost that much to produce that Factory Records lost money on each one.

Sheryl Crow.
Sheryl Crows brilliant debut album of 1993. The title comes from the name of the ad hoc group of musicians including Crow, who came together on a Tuesday to work on the album. Many of them share writing credits.

No. 19 - Inversions - Stevie Wonder
The album has been regarded as completing his transition from the "Little Stevie Wonder" known for romantic ballads into a more musically mature, conscious, and grown-up artist. Dealing with such subjects as racism & drugs.

16. XTC - Oranges & Lemons
the cover illustration was intended to resemble the work of Heinz Edelmann, the art director for the 1968 Beatles film Yellow Submarine, as most of the album pays homage to the Beatles' psychedelic period.
I know #GraphicallyYours is done and dusted, but how cool is this?
Rear of Bob Mould’s latest album, ‘Here We Go Crazy’
The cover of the wonderful album :"A Charlie Brown Christmas" (the original sound track recording of the CBS television special) by the Vince Guaraldi Trio A plain white background. The is one medium sized christmas tree in mid green. On it hang various coloured baubles: red and blue ones mostly at the tips, mainly yellow on the main tree. Hand in hand, Linus Patty and Charlie Brown dance around the base of the tree. Sitting smug at the top of the tree ...that aint no angel, that is Snoopy !!! The cartoon drawing is signed by Schulx, of course.

No. 15
Ultravox - Rage in Eden
Sleeve artwork by Peter Saville (New Order). Later releases saw different artwork due to licensing issues.
The cover of the Nitin Sawhney album :" Beyond Skin" The backwall is mid grey There is a concrete plinth, a slightly darker grey Atop the plinth is a bust - or is it a herm - of a generic person. Their shoulders ars bare. Their face is stretched, looking up to our left. There is a light falling straight on to the uplifted face from above which almost bleaches the forehead and eyes; below the chin the neck is in dark shadow. Cheeks are grey in the penumbra. The eyes are shut, maybe because of the spotlight. Maybe not as there is an overall worried frown in their brow. The mouth is open - maybe yelling, maybe crying. Either way it is a face of torment and pain.

No.14
Depeche Mode
Violator
The simplistic nature of the sleeve is what makes it so good.
Design by Area & Anton Corbijn
Cover image from the Vic Chesnutt album : Is The Actor Happy On a mid green background lies an aged off-white picture frame with chipped edges and gappy joints. In this frame is a old-style cartoon of someone on stage taking a bow in front of an audience that seem to be giving a standing ovation. The album title is above the cartoon in eratic almost childish writing. Much of the image - except the actor cartoon - is coloured in with what looks like a rough yellow wax crayon

Welcome to the Midnight Opry by The Pine Hill Haints.
From Alabama The Haints play what they term as 'Ghost Music' due to the deep roots style not being played any more. I always make the point of seeing these when they tour the UK and have a catch up with them.
The cover of the album "Ninja Tuna" by the d j Mister Scruff On a sea of pale blue squiggled waves, are some childlike drawings of fish and a starfish. One large fish ...the ninja tuna ...dominates the image and the other creatures are looking at it. The artiste name is in a naïve font across the tol, the album title runs across the bottom

This is a fantastic body of work, Google Translate comes in handy.
Cover to the Runrig album: The Cutter & The Clan On a cream background sits a postcard sized image of the peat moors of a Scottish island: the colours are slightly treated to look more like poster print. The name of the album lies across a blue&grey sky marked out in white letters The band name in black sits at the very bottom of the surrounding border

Album cover of "Shelter" by Lone Justice The central image looks like a collage of 1920s images featuring a formal couple embrassing and a cute child peeking out at the corner. The borders are marbled swirls of magenta, fawn, and black. The words lie over the swirls in a white font.

Scritti Politti - Anomie & Bonhomie.
Design: Green Gartside & Foam.
The fourth album saw a departure from the 80s synthpop of Cupid & Psyche/Provision records. Instead Green used hip-hop and grunge as inspiration. A mixed bag but still worth a listen.
Album cover for " Fear of the Dark" by The Gordon Giltrap band. A pair of gold framed 'John Lennon' spectacles, with silver mirrored lenses, gloat in a dark black void......

Anyone owning Fairport Convention’s “Unhalfbricking” knows how cleverly this photograph is composed.
Sandy Denny’s Mum & Dad pose outside their garden and each band member’s head is neatly framed in one of the trellis squares. PS the album is great!
Cover of the album"Welcome to the Pleasuredome" by Liverpool band Frankie Goes To Hollywood. There is a large white border with the album title and logo towards the bottom. The central modernist image features figurative paintings of the band members all topless. They are placed on a background of primal colour patches
