One of our team has been going through her old school books and found this acrostic she wrote aged 8 years when learning about the great flood of St Ives in 1947. The flood water came right up to the doorstep without entering the house, and inspired Tolly's arrival in 'The Children of #GreenKnowe'

Indeed. It's 'An Enemy at #GreenKnowe' which is surprisingly dark. In fact, #LucyMBoston wrote the Green Knowe books for adults, but as she wanted illustrations included, the publishers would only market them as children's books. Fortunately, children love them and so do adults :)
Visited tiny church in growing gloom. Assumed bird notes outside was daughter singing. Nope. Sound grew, then stranger with panpipes appeared down the hill, passed by, and out of sight. Am fully convinced am now in #greenknowe #thedarkisrising #boxofdelights etc territory…
