It’s the last day of #WCTC2025 in Dublin! Today we chaired and presented at a well-attended session providing the latest evidence around Heated Tobacco Products #HTPs and shared our research on tobacco industry intimidation.
On June 4, we joined a hearing at the Parliament of #Montenegro 🇲🇪 to discuss #tobacco control 📝
Together w/ ISEA & @who.int Montenegro Country Office, we shared findings & recommendations on:
-#tobacco tax reform,
-reducing illicit trade, &
-regulating #HTPs and other products.
In #Belgium, some #safernicotine products, such as #vapes & #HTPs, are permitted, while others, like #snus & #nicotinepouches, are not.
It's worth noting the annual number of deaths from #smoking is declining in the country.

Our research into clinical trials on Heated Tobacco Products #HTPs concludes it is difficult to determine the health effects of these products using data from these trials.
More clinical trials which are longer in length and free of #tobaccoindustry influence are needed.

Our recent #research examines the pricing strategies used by the tobacco and nicotine industries in response to tax increases.
The findings suggests that governments which impose lower taxes on heated tobacco products #HTPs are effectively subsidising the tobacco industry.

We examined 40 clinical trials on the health effects of Heated Tobacco Products #HTPs and found issues with the quality of many of them.
Most of the trials were very short, many were held under unrealistic conditions and the majority were conducted by #tobaccocompanies.
