Okay, Jurassic Park: Rebirth isn't technically a horror movie, it is a monster movie & currently nominated. I am also a 'Lincoln Lawyer' fan, so I love that Guadalajara's own Manuel Garcia-Rulfo is in it.

Irwin Allen's The Swarm (1978) is a big bloated nature horror movie with a ton of flaws, but a hell of a cast (typical for Allen IMO), it still managed to garner an Oscar nod in 1979. It's a fascinating watch.

An American Werewolf in London (1981) saw Rick Baker win the Oscar for Best Makeup & MAN, did he derserve it! The only other film up for the award was Heartbeeps, an Andy Kaufman film w/ "makeup" by Stan Winston.
