‘Star Wars’ March 2026 Comics Preview: ‘Shadow of Maul’, the High Republic Returns, and More
March 2026 is a fascinating one for _Star Wars_ comics. Marvel recently announced _Star Wars: Shadow of Maul_, a five-issue miniseries serving as a prequel to the _Maul: Shadow Lord_ Disney Plus series. Elsewhere, Dark Horse is raising the High Republic from the ashes with George Mann’s _The High Republic Adventures: Pathfinders_.
The next _Hyperspace Stories_ graphic novel seems poised to hit shelves in March as well. Is 2026 the year the long-in-development original graphic novel line finally gets going? Finally, the _Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order_ manga has quietly landed a March release date. Volume 1 (though I’m not sure how widely available it will be) kicks off an intriguing month of stories.
Before we go any further, here are a few recent things in the galaxy of _Star Wars_ comics you may have missed:
* Free Comic Book Day will look very different next year. The ripple effects of major comics distributor Diamond Comics’ bankruptcy have trickled down to the rights to the Free Comic Book Day name, which finally found a new home. Now under Universal Distribution, many of the usual suspects, including DC and Image Comics, got on board. But not all have. Enter Penguin Random House Comics (PRH). Universal and PRH were unable to reach a deal to include titles under the PRH banner, including _Star Wars_ , Marvel, Dark Horse, and IDW, so PRH flexed its muscle and has now established the first-ever Comics Giveaway Day.
* Both Free Comic Book Day and Comics Giveaway Day will take place on May 2, 2026. As of writing, no _Star Wars_ titles have been announced, but this writer remains wildly fascinated by how this will affect comic book shops on what’s supposed to be the happiest day of the comics calendar year. Ideally, not at all. The third edition of Tales from Free Comic Book Day will be a historic one. Now accepting applications for a new column name — apparently it’s needed.
* Marvel’s 2023 _Dark Droids_ crossover event is being collected in a new omnibus (h/t Star Wars Splash Page). It will be released in August 2026.
* More _Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order_ manga news! We’ll talk about Volume 1 here in a second, but the cover and release date for Volume 2 has also been found on Amazon UK. There is no word yet on when the manga is getting a release date in the U.S.
Now, looking ahead to March 2026, check with your local comic book shop about what pre-order options they have available (or you can be boring and choose digital). You can visit here for a refresher on what else is coming from _Star Wars_ comics. As a reminder, the very nature of comic solicitations is spoiler-filled, so be aware before going forward.
