Edging closer
to evening’s soft surrender,
the kiss of sun
lingers on the brink,
willing stars to come.

Nostalgia is a fly trap
Its notes are sickly sweet
As the chorus brings you back
& synth sweeps you off your feet
Looking back, all colored rose
A deconstruction of the past
It wasn't like this, as you know
The time you grew up cannot last
Yet still it gets a pass
To live in red tint glass

There are
a thousand
different truths.

Reasons
we ended up
here,
like we have.

And I won’t fool
myself
into believing

that it
was simple—

just to
make it easier
to
live with.

At the restaurant’s

could be in love or
they could be praying or they
could be praying & in love.

Disaster Capitalism

While American tomahawks flatten
Girls schools, you'll turn yet another blind eye
Because the oil crisis
Leading to the gas shortage
From the impending war will mean
Your Amazon package gets delayed
By just a few days, which as an American
Is completely Out-Of-The-Question
So bury your head in your stock options
And short the humanitarian efforts
Because time is money, and money is war
And war pays well
(Unless you're dying for it)

The pretty waitress
asked if I wanted spices,
I looked at her smile
and said yes. I wonder how
the girl I like is doing.

Everyday
I collect
My tears
In a bowl
I’ve fashioned
Into my
Very own
Wishing well

It’s there
In my garden
You’re welcome
To tip in a tear
Or two too

Can’t #assure
Your wishes’ll
Come true
Though
But hey ho
Sure does look pretty
When the sun sets
Over my tears

Tiny, restless voids
Remnants of your absence
Swirling
in currents incorporeal
Reminiscent
of their own nothingness.

In quiet hollows
memory persists.
An outline
of warmth once held.
The geometry
of loss becomes space.

Want of understanding
A knowing untold
State of uncertainty
Confounded resolve
Unwillingly unable
To assure them again
The logical conclusion
Is not to depend

dancing along

< still learn 40-minute #poetry sets, work a pretty intense almost-full-time job (cheaper to pay a PT librarian overtime than give him a FT contract... ah, employers), swim 50/100 laps 3 times a week while binding down a EE chest, take buses to London for all night concerts

Elizabeth Bishop
1911 –
1979
The art of losing isn’t hard to master;
so many things seem filled with the intent
to be lost that their loss is no disaster.

Lose something every day. Accept the fluster
of lost door keys, the hour badly spent.
The art of losing isn’t hard to master.

Then practice losing farther, losing faster:
places, and names, and where it was you meant
to travel. None of these will bring disaster.

I lost my mother’s watch. And look! my last, or
next-to-last, of three loved houses went.
The art of losing isn’t hard to master.

I lost two cities, lovely ones. And, vaster,
some realms I owned, two rivers, a continent.
I miss them, but it wasn’t a disaster.

—Even losing you (the joking voice, a gesture
I love) I shan’t have lied. It’s evident
the art of losing’s not too hard to master
though it may look like (Write it!) like disaster

Here’s the final musical performance of 10 literary snow storm poems from the Parlando Project’s decade long run. A good one as we enter a Sunday under drifts and callous leadership, Kenneth Patchen’s “The Snow Is Deep on the Ground.” Wishing #Blizzsky #poetry & #music, and thanks for listening!
