The new genome browser tool.

🧬 #BacDive is also taking a long-awaited leap into the world of genomics with the debut of a genome browser 🔎🖥️.

For the first time, BacDive now displays genomic information. The genome browser feature lists and visualizes #Bakta annotations of #INSDC genome assemblies.

This is a fraction of the incredible resources offered exclusively by NCBI. #INSDC is 10/10 but the auxiliary toolsets need development. NCBI isn’t perfect, but their tooling and browser experience is 1st class, offering unparalleled user experience for beginners to domain experts.

Re DNA sequence DBs: While sequence is shared across #INSDC databases #ENA #Genbank #DDBJ, the presentation and granularity of annotations/metadata can differ notably, with diff. benefits, impacting searches and downstream analyses. All INSDC databases must be maintained - annotations are important
