It's intriguing politically.

LaF0rge in a data centre, lifting a bunch of tangled up cables from the data centre double floor

Just completed the disassembly of another two Siemens EWSD digital telephone exchanges, which are now in a truck on their way to the Telecom Museum Dresden (Fernmeldemuseum Dresden). Largest time sink was untangling the hundreds of cables (mostly with proprietary Siemens connectors)..

Remember that modem screech? ☎️ Not just nostalgia—about 265k Americans still use dial-up (US Census). With AOL now discontiniuing dial-up, it’s the end of an era. I went 28.8 -> 36k -> ISDN 64/128k. Still any ADSL/SDSL providers around? What's your early-internet story?

This email just took me back to the early 00s: "The #ISDN switch-off, now scheduled for January 31, 2027."

ISDN speeds felt impressive! I remember the office I was in getting it for some super fast 128 Kbps (compared to the usual 56 Kbps).

That was back in #Macromedia #Dreamweaver #Fireworks days
