Use captions on videos - Adding captions is easy nowadays. When doing so, be sure to check they are accurate, don’t block visual features on screen, have a high contrast so they are easily seen and are synchronised along with the spoken words
Add transcripts with podcasts - Create a written transcript of spoken audio to include with your content. These can be exported from video editing software, such as Adobe Premiere Pro or YouTube. Remember to check their accuracy.
Translate content into BSL - Communicating your services or online information is not always as simple as presenting written content. Whether it’s a site-wide translation, a single web page, an emergency notification, or a video - translate it into BSL.
Present content that is user-friendly - BSL has a different grammatical structure to written English, so presenting clear and consistent content is key. To do so: Write in plain language, Avoid using slang, jargon, or acronyms, Use structured headings, and break content up into bite-sized sections
