on old #ImmigrationTwitter we had the IJ union (RIP) as well as current and former IJs. Sometimes they would speak about their efforts to maintain recognition under the Trump admin assault. Personally I've appeared in front of only a handful, nowhere near 500. I do notice qualitative differences.

I mainly used twitter to connect with #immigrationtwitter, read Takes about Issues, vent my frustration at the inanity of immigration policy, and lament the massive disconnect between right wing views of immigration (which let’s face it are now mainstream views) and anything resembling reality.

Hello, figured I should provide a real introduction. Hi, I do immigration things and was a longtime lurker in some corners of #immigrationtwitter. Otherwise I'm interested in politics, Chicago things, architecture, transportation, etc. Maybe I'll actually post here!?

Agreed. Also connecting with others who can understand the realities of the system is really valuable. #Immigrationtwitter was pretty much the only thing that got me through the last administration.

I miss #immigrationtwitter sometimes but I think #immisky will be a good place.

Just had a convo with a bitter European immigrant convinced of various Fox Newsy lies: that only “military age men” are coming to the border, that VP Harris was meaningfully in charge of immigration at the border.

I did see some of them! Twitter refugees I think. Not following them. Hope they have a good time dunking on Orange Man.

Honestly, on twtr I liked being part of #immigrationtwitter where we were Mad at Dems and Stern at anyone who pretended things were good under Trump. Glad some of us are here.

It’s a good thread, Bront, but as I read I began to think about where I reflexively consider myself very fine people. Like when legal nonimmigrants stuck in backlog hell (waving to #immigrationtwitter) attack AILA and lawyers for profiting from their misery. Am I good, because I’m helping ppl?

This whole thread from here on became for me a nostalgic return to the feel of #immigrationtwitter and I love that for us. Moreover, we deserve a system that reflects our values and is cheap, easy, rational to navigate and is merciful and swift in operation. Families belong together. Let People Be.
