In #BahasaIndonesia #IndonesianLanguage you don't have to worry about pronunciation.

You can safely use the /é/ sound whenever you encounter the "e" letter because there is only one pair of words where the pronunciation of the "e" matters.

(And that pair also trips native speakers, so there)
