When students get to move a shape around, they can see how the coordinates change. Patty paper (you know, the paper they put between hamburger patties)… is my go-to. I’m using some translucent sticky notes in this video, which are kinda nice because they stick. ✏️Tip: If you’re using patty paper/sticky notes/tracing paper… Be sure students trace the x-axis and y-axis first. Maybe with a pen or marker. For rotations around the origin, they’ll want to be sure the origin matches the original and tracing. Do you use tracing paper when you teach rotations?" Get ready to master transformations on the coordinate plane!
