Italy Launches Third COSMO-SkyMed Second Generation Satellite from California
Italy has successfully launched the third satellite of the COSMO-SkyMed Second Generation constellation, strengthening national Earth observation and defense capabilities. The mission matters as the system supports security, environmental monitoring, and strategic decision-making. The satellite, owned by the Italian Space Agency and the Italian Ministry of Defense, was built by Thales Alenia Space and launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.
