In my quest to get rid of even more #Microslop products, I'm testing if #jetbrain 's #rider can replace #VisualStudio.

My tests yesterday looked promissing, even though in VS some things work more ... "smoothly" (like providing a .gitignore for a solution).

I'll take notes.

* UPDATE * Liking #JetBrain #Rider a lot. Seems to get out of the way more than Visual Studio. Much prefer the look / feel to Rider (2025.3.3) than VS 2026.

Fully embraced it at work too. We've got the big posh version there but I think they're the same feature wise? Just the licence restrictions.

You might've seen mentions of #CLion being free (for non-commercial use), but if you're like me it helps to know that this is #Jetbrain's their C/C++/Rust IDE.

My Rider course is now fully planned out, and the first two modules are recorded and edited. I've just made the mistake of story-pointing each video and breaking it down into weeks - which has given me visibility of how much work I have to do each week!! 😬🙈😨 #jetbrain #rider #dotnet
